When I spoke with Bungie producer Curtis Creamer last week, I asked him why they don’t support matchmaking in Firefight. He explained how it comes down to a technical issue. It uses that as a base technology with all the same gameplay mechanics, including AI. Matchmaking was simply not part of that Halo 3 campaign. I began on two player split-screen with a friend and got to the third or so stage, then eventually realized that Halo 3: ODST is one of those games where the campaign is much more enjoyable when played solo unlike most, e. Gears of War 1 and 2 , and so restarted and played the campaign from start to finish myself, and I was still underwhelmed.

I found the gameplay in campaign to be extremely repetitive, for reasons specific to the game and also the fact that the typical Halo enemy formula is simply getting old now.
